A new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) lab at High Point Elementary has been created. It’s complete with tables, stools, and lab coats for students to wear when they are working. The second grade has learned about magnets in the lab. Fifth graders have used it to learn about electrical circuits. Other classes have experimented with soil, fossils, and decomposers (worms), both of which break down materials in the soil and aerate it. We are learning about what a scientist is and what it takes to be a scientist. Safety first! Grab a pair of handy goggles if your lesson is going to be messy!
