The Washington County Sheriff's Office has just communicated that the situation around the Wallace Pike area has been handled.
The soft lockdown at Wallace Middle School has been lifted, and all school activities will resume at normal.

Washington County Sheriff's Office has made us aware of a situation in the community that has prompted Wallace Middle School to be placed on a soft lockdown. All students, faculty, and staff are safe. We will continue to communicate information to parents as updates are available.

Referrals for gifted education services are now being accepted August 28 through September 15. If you would like to refer a student for an evaluation, please contact your student's homeroom teacher. Any referrals received after September 15 will be held until the Spring 2024 evaluation window. Should you have any questions, please contact Ms. Susan O'Dell at sodell@wcs.k12.va.us.
This coming Monday, August 28th, there will be a Wallace Band Parent Meeting for all grade levels at 6pm in the Wallace gym. We will be covering information on items such as: Green Card fundraiser, all-county/all-district honor band info, Spring Performance Trip to Carowinds, as well as several other important items
All parents of school-aged children and youth with disabilities who receive special education services in Virginia are requested to complete the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) annual Parent Involvement Survey.
To comply with the Code of Virginia and the SFPC, Wallace Middle School will participate in a lockdown drill on Thursday, August 24, 2023.
On Wednesday, August 16, WMS hosted a Back to School Bash. We recognized our fall athletes participating in cross country, cheerleading, volleyball, and football. Students in each grade level competed in an egg relay, three-legged race, wheelbarrow race, hula hoop relay, balloon pop relay, and potato sack race to earn spirit points. Several teachers also competed in the potato sack race! Students signed up for art club, 4-H club, robotics club, FFA, drama, and dodgeball clubs. The PTA helped sponsor the event and sold concessions . Welcome back, Wallace!

The Volleyball game vs. Damascus Middle School that was originally scheduled for Thursday, August 24, 2023, has been rescheduled for Monday, September 11, 2023. The game will start at 5:00 PM.
