Happy Fall Y’all!! Washington County Schools is off to a great start and it’s all because of YOU!! Thank you for ALL you do for our students! There are many fall activities happening in the county, festivals and sporting events, so be sure and get out and support your schools and students!!
Dr. Perrigan has been busy this month, he has met with all of his Advisory Committees; Support Staff, Students, Teachers and Parents and they each had some great information and suggestions in regard to our schools.
The Superintendent’s Leadership Team has been meeting with a new committee in regard to the new Employee Incentive Program which will be introduced shortly and rolled out in January.
There is a new after school meals program that is being piloted at Abingdon High School and will be coming to your school soon. This At-Risk Afterschool Meals Component will provide a healthy meal or snack to students who participate in afterschool programs.
Ms. Mary Walker, Counselor and Career Specialist at the Washington County Career & Technical Education Center was presented the 6 of 6 Award for exceeding the Jobs for Virginia Graduates standard. Ms. Walker does an amazing job in helping students acquire gainful employment.
The School Board recently approved the following additional staff recommendations by Dr. Perrigan:
• a head custodian at each school;
• a middle school wrestling coach;
• an additional administrator at Rhea Valley Elementary;
• an additional Gifted Coordinator for secondary education; and
• attendance support at multiple schools Proclamations for November
