Each year HPES first graders like to show off their red, white, and blue patriotic spirit! The students start in October learning 7(?) patriotic songs that highlight our country, as well as, the presidents and other famous Americans that helped mold our great nation. Each student has a special part, individual props, a sparkly, stars and stripes hat, and character costumes are worn by many. The program opens up with The Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the national anthem. The finale is the recitation of The Gettysburg Address from 13 of High Point’s very own Abraham Lincolns, dressed in black beards and top hats. A huge thank you goes to Dr. Sherry King for the vision and creation of the program, as well as, the continued efforts of the first grade teachers that keep this show alive!
