The Abingdon High School FFA recently invited Greendale Elementary second graders to a "Food for America" event. Second graders learned about the importance of agriculture, how to identify animal tracks, planted seeds, received a brief history of the use of tractors in Virginia, and learned all about how to raise and care for farm animals. Everyone enjoyed being able to interact with live animals, such as chickens, ducks, and goats. The highlight of the day was being taught by fellow Washington County students. There is such a positive impact when elementary and high school students learn together!
