Damascus Middle School 4-H members recently competed in the “Dramatic Reading” contest. Each student was given 2-3 minutes to read from his or her favorite book, story, or poem. Points were awarded in the following areas: Introduction of the piece, tone and emphasis, speed and rhythm, facial expression, and body language. The purpose of dramatic reading is to build better oral language skills when communicating to a group. Congratulations to the following blue-ribbon winners: Ryder H., Lane H., McKenzie C., Carson M., Natalie C., Abel D., Aiden L., Jeffrey M., McKenzie R., Logan G., Hattie G., Victoria F., Roby O., Lucas C., Lydia R., Lily T., Lucy H. The blue-ribbon winners will represent DMS at the county competition in March.
