Community Support: We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from our community at our donation supply drop-off locations. We are so proud of our students who led efforts to help our friends and neighbors! Because of the amazing support that our schools and the United Way has received, we will not take any additional donations after Monday night. When this inventory is used, we will consider additional opportunities to collect donations.
We also wanted to give a special thanks to teachers from around Washington County who graciously joined together at Rhea Valley to assist Damascus teachers checking on our students to provide food & other needed supplies. Several teams went up the mountain to help staff members & families who have had catastrophic damage done to their homes & property.
WCPS is still planning to coordinate a day for employees to help with cleanup efforts in Damascus. We are waiting until officials deem the area safe for volunteers.
