Initiatives for 2011-2012
- All schools will continue to be fully accredited.
- All schools and the division will continue to strive to meet the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) benchmarks.
- Successfully complete a five year review process to remain accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
- Complete Phase II of facility construction projects.
- Seek opportunities to expand the curriculum beyond the Standards of Learning.
- One-hundred percent of Washington County’s students will earn a diploma following the completion of an appropriate program of study.
- Increase the number of students earning industry certificates and verified credits in career and technical education courses.
- Expand on-line instructional opportunities for all students.
- Emphasis will be placed on integrating science, technology, engineering and math into the curriculum.
- Emphasize building 21st Century skills into the curriculum.
- Emphasis will be placed on sportsmanship accountability for students, fans, and athletes.
- Emphasis will be placed on writing at the elementary level.
- New English and science textbooks will be reviewed for possible adoption.
- Continued identification of preschool students in need of early intervention to ensure future academic success.
- Allow greater access to global technology resources to students and staff for instructional purposes.
- Strive to improve staff salaries.
- Reduce class sizes.
- Implement a technology education program incorporating the Technology Student Association (TSA).
- Implement a data warehouse in order to track student instructional growth and provide timely information on instructional progress.
- Develop a policy that outlines procedures and guidelines for interactions among students and staff with regard to electronic media.
- Implementation of a strategic plan for enhancement of the use of technology in the classroom.
