Kim Hobbs and Jane Osborne participate in a story telling activity.
On April 1st, Jill Jessee, librarian at HHS, and Jane Osborne, librarian at HPES, led the VEMA Clinch Regional Conference. Working as Co-Directors, Mrs. Jessee and Ms. Osborne were responsible for planning this wonderful conference which was attended by librarians throughout our region. The conference featured Flora Joy, renowned storyteller, as the keynote speaker. Participants were able to attend a variety of sessions, visit with a multitude of vendors, and take home a door prize.
The Washington County librarians offered assistance and were a part of the planning committee. In the photo, Ms. Osborne, Sherry Hurt and Julia Davis staff the registration desk. Kim Hobbs and Ms. Osborne participate in a story telling activity.

During the month of March 2004, Washington County Public Schools' four middle schools toured the Washington County Technical School and heard information on the Program of Studies offered at the school from Mr. Douglas Sparks, Principal. Students from Damascus Middle School, E.B. Stanley Middle School, Glade Spring Middle School, and Wallace Middle School visited the programs offered at the Technical School and participated in actual activities in the classes. The tours give all of the county's 8th grade students an opportunity to see first hand the skills required to be a Auto Body Technician, Carpenter, Computer Repair Technician, Bricklayer/Mason, Cosmetologist, and Health Care Provider.
