Kyla recieves a certificate for her scholarship from Principal Judy Wilson.
Congratulation to John S. Battle High School student, Kyla T., on her recent selection as one of this year's recipients of the University of Virginia's Achievement Award. This award was established in 1985 with the intent of attracting exceptional students from across the Commonwealth of Virginia to the University. The award is based primarily on academic merit, leadership, and citizenship. The Scholarship Committee considers hundreds of applicants for the awards at the same time it considers them for admission. This is a great tribute to Kyla, who has consistently demonstrated academic and personal excellence at John Battle!

On April 1st, Jill Jessee, librarian at HHS, and Jane Osborne, librarian at HPES, led the VEMA Clinch Regional Conference. Working as Co-Directors, Mrs. Jessee and Ms. Osborne were responsible for planning this wonderful conference which was attended by librarians throughout our region. The conference featured Flora Joy, renowned storyteller, as the keynote speaker. Participants were able to attend a variety of sessions, visit with a multitude of vendors, and take home a door prize.
The Washington County librarians offered assistance and were a part of the planning committee. In the photo, Ms. Osborne, Sherry Hurt and Julia Davis staff the registration desk. Kim Hobbs and Ms. Osborne participate in a story telling activity.
