Holston High School Cross Country Team Races All the Way to the State

A group of students posing together in track uniforms.Holston High School’s Cross Country team has again proven they are a force to be reckoned with.  Over the course of the last four years, they have sent numerous runners to the district finals and to the state finals.  This year’s team has set the bar even higher.  Under the direction of Coach Sammy Campbell, the Boy’s CC team has earned the right to compete at the state meet.  Eight of the nine runners will also compete as individuals because of their finish in the district event.

In the girls’ district event, Ryland H. finished 2nd, Hayden L. finished 4th, and Kealy R. Finished 6th.  The boys top finishers were Jordan K. in 5th place, Kaiden F. in 6th, Miles H. in 7th, Dylan T. in 10th, and Jordan O. in 13th.  These finishes locked those mentioned above into a start at the state event on September 11 at the Great Meadows Course in Plains, Virginia.  The appearance at the state meet will be the first for the Cavs as a team since the HHS CC girls competed there in 1990.  A special nod goes to freshman Jordan K., who was the Hogoheegee district individual boys’ champion this year.  Another special nod goes to senior Jordan O., who will make his first appearance in the state finals as a senior after four years of hard work and competitive running.

Holston’s faculty and staff wish this determined successful team the best as they represent the school and Washington County at the state level.
