Abingdon Elementary Dresses Up for Read across America!

A child in a costume.March 2, 2017 was Read across America Day in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. However, when we “read across America” there are many beloved characters besides a Lorax or a certain Cat in his hat!

To celebrate, students and staff dressed up as their favorite book characters and there were many storybook characters to behold at Abingdon Elementary School! We had Paddington Bear
visit us that day along with Bilbo Baggins, Junie B. Jones, Fly Guy, and Pete the Cat. Scaredy Squirrel even substituted in a first grade classroom! One lucky winner at each grade level received a gift certificate to our Scholastic Book Fair to be held on later in March. Learning, reading, and fun were had by all!
