Sam C. is Virginia's Fuel Up Ambassabor
Glade Spring Middle School has had another great year with the Fuel Up to Play 60 program. Fuel Up to Play 60 is a club sponsored by the NFL and National Dairy Association. The club members are encouraged to participate in a minimum of 60 minutes of physical activity daily and eat healthy foods. This year the Fuel Up Club purchased a salad bar for the school cafeteria, three Xbox 360 Kinect units with sports and dance games and Kan Jam games to be used during recess.
Each year, club members can apply to become state ambassadors for Fuel Up to Play 60. The applicants must demonstrate strong leadership skills and a dedication to living a healthy lifestyle. Eighth grader, Sam C. was selected this year from a large pool of applicants to represent Glade Spring Middle School as the state ambassador from Virginia. He will attend the Fuel Up to Play 60 Summer Summit in Washington, D.C. in July with student ambassadors from across the United States. We are very proud of Sam and his contributions to the Fuel Up Club and school. Look carefully when a Fuel Up to Play 60 commercial airs during a NFL football game on television because you may see Sam in one of them. He will get to have lunch with a player at the Summit and play football with him afterwards. Congratulations to Sam on his accomplishment!
