Wallace Middle School students gather at the flag pole.
The National Day of Prayer was signed into law by President Truman in 1952, and each year since then the president signs a proclamation encouraging all Americans to pray on the first Thursday in May. In celebration of this event, the Wallace Middle School PTA organized the "meeting at the pole"; approximately 100 students and staff gathered at the flag pole on the morning of Thursday, May 3, to observe the 61st annual National Day of Prayer and to pray for our nation and its leadership. This year's National Day of Prayer theme is "One Nation under God," based on Psalm 33:12. After a prayer service, which was led by Mr. Ken Osborne centered around that verse, two Wallace Middle School students, Aubrey Sobczak and Savannah Jacobs, sang Amazing Grace. Thanks to all who attended and to Mr. and Mrs. Osborne for the refreshments they provided.
