The library at Meadowview Elementary School challenged individual students to read a million words during the course of the school year. Each time students took an Accelerated Reader quiz, a running count of the number of words in each book was automatically tallied. An amazing fifteen students read a million or more words from Accelerated Reader books. These students got their names announced on the school's morning news show and got their pictures posted on the library bulletin board each time they reached 1 million. All fifteen students were rewarded with a medal and certificate at the end of the year. Our amazing readers were: Grace Moser and Drew Miller with over 4 1/2 million words; Chyenne Rector and Casey Quillen with over 2 million words; Catherine Grossman, Cade Mullins, Laken Gross, Alexandria Bland, Jackson Hardy, Alyssa Morgan, Ciel Smith, Andrew Heil, Julia Street, James Barfield, and Memphis Barnard with over 1 million words. Congratulations to these incredible reading role models!
