The Damascus Webelos recently cleaned up the grounds at Holston High School.
The Damascus Webelo Den 5 of Pack 117 recently performed a community service project by picking up trash on the grounds of the Holston High School campus. The Webelos concentrated on the area around the football field and left the area looking good and in shape for the coming football season. The members of Den 5 who participated were: Layton H., Justin H., Jonathan S. and Jordan K.—all 4th graders.
The Webelo program is a 20 month venture for 4th and 5th grade boys. It is a transition from being a Cub Scout to being a Boys Scout. During their time as a Webelo, young men can earn up to 20 activity badges. The project is consistent with the “Webelo Virtues” which stress self-reliance and service to others. This project specifically addressed the “daily good turn” required of Boy Scouts. David Keith was the troop leader in charge of the project.
