Third-grade students in Mrs. Miller's class worked hard on their projects; Oil slicks, bread mold, plant growth, and dissolving substances were just a few of the topics studied. Students worked in groups of four or five, and followed the scientific method to create and carry out an investigation.   <title>Wallace Middle School Students Earn Third Varsity Letter in Reading!</title>

  <description>On April 25, nineteen Wallace Middle School eighth-graders attended a pizza banquet in their honor.  These students earned letters in reading when they were in the sixth and seventh grades, and because they earned a third letter despite the rigor of block schedules and receiving high school credit for up to three courses, Mr. Lambert rewarded them, congratulated them for their hard work, and love for reading.

  <title>“Peeping” Into Spring!</title>

  <description>Mrs. Kiser’s fourth grade class at Watauga Elementary School has taken Peeps to a whole new level!  During the months of March and April, Mrs. Kiser’s class has had the privilege of a student teacher.  Ms. Dana Troutman, a graduate student from Emory and Henry, introduced a writing assignment using  Peeps as a prop. The students were asked to take a scene from their favorite book and turn it into

  <description>Students from the Holston High School FFA chapter visited students at Rhea Valley Elementary School during National Agriculture Literacy Week. Students read "Kelly's Big Day", a book supplied by the Virginia Farm Bureau- Ag in the Classroom. The book was about Kelly and her visits around a farm and all the animals and crops she see while there.  Each classroom was left with a copy of the book for their collection.   <title>Wallace Middle School Flings Into Spring!</title>

  <description>On the afternoon of  Friday, April 5, Wallace Middle School students, faculty, and staff attended the Spring Fling.  There were giant inflatables for students to enjoy on a day that turned out to be sunny and bright.  Temperatures warmed by the afternoon so students could participate in an afternoon of  play that included hot shot basketball, a toilet roll toss as well as great refreshments like ice cold drinks, nachos, hot fudge cake, and pixie stix.   <description>Seventh grade AgriScience students took advantage of an unusually warm April week by weeding Wallace Middle School's Virginia Landscape Garden under the guidance of their teacher, Mr. Mark Hawkins. The garden, which features soils and plants from Virginia's four geographic terrains, was begun several years ago with a Science Learn &amp; Serve grant that Mrs. Leonard received way back in 2007.
