National Fentanyl Awareness Day falls on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024. Fentanyl is a major contributor to fatal and nonfatal overdoses in the United States. According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, fentanyl caused or contributed to death in 75.9% of all fatal overdoses in Virginia in 2022.
